AP Biology
- Water's polarity drives hydrogen bonding, cohesion, and its role as a solvent. Macromolecules are built by dehydration synthesis and broken apart by hydrolysis.
- Compare prokaryotes and eukaryotes, organelle structure and function, and the fluid-mosaic membrane, including passive and active transport and water potential.
- Enzymes lower activation energy. Cellular respiration and photosynthesis move energy through ATP, redox reactions, electron transport chains, and chemiosmosis.
- Signal transduction runs from reception through transduction to response. Feedback loops regulate it, and checkpoints, cyclins, and CDKs regulate the cell cycle.
